FE fundinfo launches Product Mastering Core, giving investment managers one governed source for fund data in days

New off-the-shelf entry point helps accelerate fund launches and connect workflows across Nexus for Investment Managers

FE fundinfo today launched Product Mastering Core, a pre-configured, governed data layer that gives firms a trusted source for fund, share class and registration data, and sits at the starting point for connected workflows.

Delayed launches, distribution errors and repeated reconciliation are rarely caused by the documents or filings themselves. They are symptoms of fragmented product data, disconnected workflows and multiple versions of the truth sitting underneath, with fund data traditionally spread across spreadsheets, in-house tools and departmental systems that were never built to talk to each other.

FE fundinfo’s Asset Managers Report 2026 found 65% of investment management leaders say this fragmentation limits their operational efficiency, and for 69%, the speed and accuracy of fund data shapes which managers distribution partners choose, and keep working with. Vendor consolidation is now the second-highest investment priority industry-wide, cited by 33% of respondents. Product Mastering Core, replaces that fragmentation with one governed source of truth for fund, share class and registration data.

Key capabilities include:

  • Openfunds-aligned data model: More than 600 market-ready fields across umbrella, fund, share class and registration data, extensible with a firm's own internal codes and operational attributes.

  • Point-of-entry validation: Pre-configured Nexus validation catches errors before they reach downstream systems.

  • Change-event automation: Pre-configured Nexus rules flag related data at the point of change, catching inconsistencies before they reach downstream systems.

  • Full approval workflow and audit trail: Every change is validated, approved and logged, showing what changed, when, and who approved it.

  • Fast time to value: Live in days, with no implementation project. New firms get 10 hours of consultancy and training, plus knowledge base access to get started.

  • A path to grow: Data, configuration and workflows carry forward as firms' needs evolve, so they can start small and scale without re-platforming.

Product Mastering Core is built for firms adopting governed product data mastering for the first time, or those who want a pre-configured, fast-to-implement entry point without a full implementation project. It complements Product Mastering, FE fundinfo's configurable solution for firms that need bespoke validation rules, workflow automation or dynamic pricing and holdings data.

Product and operations teams create, validate and approve fund, share class and registration data directly in the platform. That data then flows into connected workflows across Nexus for Investment Managers, including document production, global funds registration, data dissemination and distribution, without a new integration for each one. Firms master the data once and use it everywhere.

Data quality also shapes what firms can do with AI. FE fundinfo's research found 64% of investment managers believe AI will only deliver meaningful value once the quality and structure of underlying data improve. Product Mastering Core provides that governed, standardised foundation.

Paul Poletti-Gadd, Head of Asset Management Products at FE fundinfo, said:

“Most investment managers are still processing critical product information across spreadsheets and disconnected systems, which can slow launches and create inconsistencies. Product Mastering Core can be up and running in days rather than months, providing a trusted starting point for Nexus for Investment Managers.”

Cameron Smith, Head of Investor Disclosure at Valu-Trac Investment Management Limited, added:

"With Product Mastering Core, we have one reliable source of fund data to work from. This improves consistency, significantly reduces manual effort, and gives us greater confidence in meeting our regulatory and reporting requirements."

This launch reflects the wider vision behind Nexus for Investment Managers, which connects the data, technology and workflows behind the entire fund lifecycle.
