Today FE fundinfo, the global leader in investment fund data and technology for the fund management industry, announced six active fund managers have entered the ‘Hall of Fame’ list for the first time in 2024. The list recognises managers who have been ‘Alpha-rated’ for seven years or more, and this year the list features 46 managers.
New to the list
This year, six new candidates have entered into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their success in navigating a challenging market and delivering exceptional results over the last seven years. New entrants include David Walton from Marlborough Investment Management, Claudia Calich from M&G UK, Yunyoung Lee from Janus Henderson, Aziz Hamzaogullari from Natixis, Kristian Heugh from Morgan Stanley Investment Funds, and Polina Kurdyavko from RBC BlueBay Asset Management.
Alpha Manager ratings recognise the top 10 percent of UK retail-facing managers, based on their entire career performance. The rating is based on three components: risk-adjusted alpha, consistency of outperformance versus their benchmark, and outperformance in both up and down markets. Those who have longer track records of delivering strong performances are awarded extra weighting in the rankings to reflect the additional benefits of their expertise.
Consistent rankings
Seven managers have consistently ranked in the Hall of Fame since they first entered the list. These managers are Richard Woolnough from M&G, John Chatfeild-Roberts and Daniel Nickols from Jupiter, David Dudding from Threadneedle Management, Martin Lau from FSSA Investment Managers, Mark Slater from Slater Investments, and Leigh Himsworth from Fidelity.
The firm with the most candidates making the list was Jupiter, which had five of its managers enter the Hall of Fame. This year, four candidates from Fidelity appeared in the Hall of Fame, with three from Schroders, Morgan Stanley, and Janus Henderson named on the list.
